Depression Management in Islam
▶️ Problem: Too
Many Rewards or Too Much Grief
▶️
Solution:
Have Gratefulness and Patience
When rewards and grief befallen on us in abundance, we often
are not in our control of ourselves.
When we see big rewards, we feel pride and this leads to
Kibr (Proudness) and thanklessness. The thought process starts in our minds
that what we are getting is due to our deeds, capabilities, and efforts.
In contrary to that when grief and sorrows fell on us, we
feel dejected. Sometimes we start complaining to Almighty that why am I put on
continuous trial. Prophet Mohammed PBUH saying should be in our mind that may
Allah has selected us to be put on trials and due to our patience Allah may
elevate our positions in Akhirah
📌 Hazrat Abu Huraira (may
Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and
blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “There is a Grade / Level appointed by
Allah for a servant to which he cannot reach due to his actions, then Allah
will test him. puts it in order to bring
it to this level" (Ibn Hibban).
📌 Suhaib ibn Sinan narrated that the Prophet said: "How
remarkable is the case of the believer! There is good for him in everything,
but this is not the case for anyone except for the believer. When the believer
receives any good, he is thankful to Allah, and gets a reward. And when some
misfortune befalls him, he endures it patiently, for which he is (also)
rewarded." {Fiqh as-Sunnah, vol.4, p.1.}
