In our present-day life, we are surrounded with so many activities but still happiness is elusive. When we observe into the causes why we are wandering for happiness and unable to grasp it. We observe after introspection the solution as “we seek more” ھل من مزید. This unending quest lead us nowhere.
Let
see the teachings of Islam
Lack of Trust on Allah for future sustenance
Allah has provided us with sustenance (Rizq) since our birth; when we were not in a position to get a sip of water; He brought us up till where ever we are today and He will continue to provide it till the end of our lives. But due to our shallow belief we often loose Trust on Him and start believing in our worldly assets, focusing on increasing it, safeguarding it and making it more beneficial to us.
Though
it’s not a crime to keep wealth and other resources but believing that these
resources will keep me afloat without sinking in the hours of crises will
loosen our relationship with Allah. Thereby we become more and more dependent
on materialistic barriers rather than doing our best and keeping the trust on
Allah that he will provide the best for me.
Similarly,
we felt disheartened by the calamities that struck us; we should believe that
these are been sent to us either to purify and develop us by putting us on
trials or eliminating the hardships in Akhirah by testing us with lesser trials
in this world. We shouldn’t ask for punishment in this world but rather ask
Lord to save us from all calamities in both worlds. Comparatively the trials in
this world are lesser than the punishments in the life hereafter.
Story of Alhmadullilah
There
lived a pious man in Ancient Arabia with a honest servant, one day ruler sent a
bunch of gold coins to him. He took that box and kept silent for some time said
Alhamdullilah (Thanks to Lord) and then ask his servant to keep the box of gold
in the stores. Days passed. Later one day his servant came to him and said that
the Gold box is stolen. The pious man again kept silent for few moments and
then said Alhamdullilah (Thanks to Lord) and became busy on his routine.
Later
the servant asked him the reason for his saying thanks to almighty. He replied
when the gold coins came to me a paused for a moment and check my heart, I
didn’t find the greed and love for the coins, I Said Alhamdullilah and when you
told me that it is lost then again I checked the state of my heart and mind,
even then I didn’t felt the remorse so again I thanked the Almighty.
That’s
an Ideal state of heart and mind for a person.
Greedy mindset &
Materialistic Life Orientation
When
we have greedy mindset, we will not focus on the blessings around us instead we
look for the things, we still don’t possess, carve for them and spoil our
present lives. We should orient our lives in such a way that Akhirah should
become our utmost priority and all other works should be done to attain a
successful life in Akhirah.
Once
our priority changes to Akhirah, the trivial issues which surrounds us and eat
most of our time and energy look miniatures and we will be better focussed in
the life. In each step in the right direction gives us solace and satisfaction.
Whereas if we prioritise the worldly life, we will not get anything more than
what we are destined to get; instead, the worries and running against time
activities will kill the calm and peace in our lives and makes us bewildered.
Messenger
of Allah ﷺ say:
"Whoever is focused only on this world, Allah will confound his affairs
and make him fear poverty constantly, and he will not get anything of this
world except that which has been decreed for him. Whoever is focused on the
Hereafter, Allah will settle his affairs for him and make him feel content with
his lot, and his provision and worldly gains will undoubtedly come to
him." (Sahih)
Solution: Trust Allah &
Be Content
Prophet ﷺ " "Allah
says: O son of Adam, devote yourself to My worship, and I will fill your heart
with contentment and take care of your poverty; but if you do not do that, then
I will fill your heart with worldly concerns and will not take care of your
poverty.(Tirmidhi)
Abdullah
said: "I heard your Prophet ﷺ say: Whoever focuses all his concerns on
one thing. the Hereafter, Allah will relieve him of worldly concerns, but
whoever has disparate concerns scattered among a number of worldly issues,
Allah wIll not care in which of its valleys he died.":
Story of 99 Circle
Once there was a king who once asked his minister to check whether all his country’s people are happy or struggling for their survival. Because most king believe that there are less chances of rebellion if people are busy in their struggle for survival. The minister sought a week time to check and return back.
After
a week he reported that while all the people are busy in their hectic life for
survival, there is a small family of a farmer at the city’s outskirt who are
very satisfied with their life and living happily. The man earn for the day and
eat and live happily while his wife took care of his house. With no rich belongings
they have no fear of thieves and live happily.
King
got amused and was thinking of passing a decry. Sensing the situation, the
minister asked for kings permission of a week time and promise to make this
family busy as others.
King
granted the permission and asked him to report back after a week.
Next
week when king enquired about the farmer, Minister briefed the king that
currently the farmer’s family is the most disturb one in his whole kingdom.
Amused
by the answer the King asked what made him like that. Minister replied that the
“circle of 99”. The inquisitee of king increased and he asked for details.
Minister said that he put a big jar in front of his house filled with 99 Gold coins with a sticker of 100 on it. When the farmer found it, he was very happy and initially searched for its owner, when he couldn’t find the owner, he presumed it to be the Gods Gift and took inside his house and started counting it again and again. When he found one short he started searching near and far around his house. Once exhausted he felt sad on not finding the lost one coin.
He
told his wife lets work little harder to save for one gold coin. Now he started
working in two shifts and later his wife also started working. They are working
hard the whole day and keeping themselves awake one at a time to watch for the
gold coins against the thieves.
In
order to fill the 100th coin their whole life peace and tranquillity
has gone.
Isn’t
our story the same where as we carve for the 100th even after having
the 99 and this greed will take all peace from our minds.
How to be a celebrity
We
often want to be in a situation where we are loved by All and hated by None.
With
Allah it will happen only if we renounce others and have complete dependence on
HIM. However with other fellow people it depends on what expectation we have
while dealing with them. If we go with higher expectations then there are
chances that they will not live up to that. Moreover, when we visit or meet a
person without any expectations and returns from their end then we will gain
utmost respect like the parents who sacrifice their best part of lives to make
their offspring successful. This is the recipe of success for being a uncalled
celebrity.
On
the authority of Abu al-’Abbas Sahl bin Sa’ad as-Sa’idee (may Allah be pleased
with him) who said:A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be
upon him) and said, “O Messenger of Allah, direct me to an act which, if I do
it, [will cause] Allah to love me and the people to love me.” So he (peace and
blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Renounce the world and Allah will love
you, and renounce what the people possess and the people will love you.” A
hasan hadeeth related by Ibn Majah and others with good chains of authorities. Hadith
31, 40 Hadith an-Nawawi
Friendship with Men of
wisdom
We
have been asked to look for such type of people who are Zahid, calm, less
speaking ones as Wisdom is bestowed on them
It
was narrated that Abu Khallad, who was one of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ , Said
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
If you see a man who has been given indifference with regard to this world and
who speaks little, then draw close to him for he will indeed offer wisdom.
We should not be so obsessed that in search of gold we shouldn’t forget the silver linings.
Let’s try to be wise and content with the bounties given to us by Allah and lead a happy and prosperous life with the goal of succeeding in the life hereafter.
May Allah guide us to the best way and
let us die with a content heart and mind
