15. Depression Management in Islam

▶️ Problem: Life Expectations

▶️ Solution: Hope and fear

📍 We all live our life with expectations. Sometimes we get less and some other time beyond what we expected. Its ok to have normal expectations. But once we expect more than our lives will have anxieties.

We should live our lives between hope of Allah’s Mercy and fear of his Wrath as the Legends use to live, . Hazrat Omer RA has set a good example for us.

Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, said, “If a caller from heaven announced that all people would enter Paradise together but for one man, I would fear that I am him. And if a caller announced that all people would enter Hellfire together but for one man, I would hope that I am him.”

Those whom they call upon are themselves seeking the means of access to their Lord, each trying to be nearer to Him. They crave for His Mercy and dread His chastisement. Surely your Lord's punishment is to be feared.  (Al-Israa’ 17:57
